Our core competence for half a century
Swimming pools and leisure pools continue to be real magnets for the public, especially in fine weather. To ensure that the water stays clean and clear, it has to be treated. The first and most important step is pH regulation, which contributes significantly to the disinfectants used exploiting their full potential. Water disinfection prevents harmful germs from spreading, forming the second important pillar of water treatment. Flocking agents allow the finest floating particles to be clumped together so that they stay stuck in the filter and the water remains crystal clear. Algae are not only an eyesore but also provide an optimal breeding ground for germs. You can find concentrated and effective helpers in our product range against unwanted algae.
An ideal pH value of 7.0 – 7.4 is the precondition for optimal disinfection. Beyond this value, the disinfecting effect of most products diminishes significantly. But the pH value has an influence not only on the disinfecting effect. If it is too high or too low, it can have an impact on the pool infrastructure and on health. If it is too high, meaning more than 7.8 in an alkali range, the chlorine in particular increasingly loses its effectiveness and that water can become dulled with limestone deposits. If it falls below a value of 6.5, on the other hand (acid range), there is an increasing incidence of eye irritation.
Because of bathers, elements that cannot be seen with the naked eye such as germs and organic substances including hair, flakes of skin, urine or cosmetics get into the pool water. In addition, there are coarser dirt particles such as dust, leaves and insects that fall into the pool and soil the water. Therefore, regardless of the type of pool, the number and habits of the bathing guests, it is an absolute must to regularly treat the pool water with water disinfectants.
Calcium hypochlorite Ca(ClO)₂ of the brand hth® Granular is a particularly effective disinfectant. The product boasts the following quality properties:
- High ratio of active chlorine: 70% (according to analysis data from the production laboratory after manufacturing at our plant). Additionally dried and dedusted, therefore minimised clumping risk. Manufacturing process certified according to ISO 9000: quality control throughout the manufacturing process.
Our products are available in many packaging sizes with a choice of granules or briquettes. These are then infused with specially developed dosing devices.
You can find an overview of the most common disinfectants in public swimming pools here.

The flocking agent dosage is important in the water treatment of every swimming pool. Impurities such as pollen, limestone or green algae would otherwise soon dull the water. Some of these impurities can be so small that they are not retained by the filter and get back into the pool through the cycle. To make it possible to filter them, flocking is carried out. This is a physical and chemical-technical procedure that enables the filtration of tiny colloid particles with a negative charge. The positively charged flocking agent attracts these particles, forming larger particles that can now be filtered.
In order to grow, algae need warm water, sunlight, carbon dioxide and nutrients such as nitrate, for example from the breakdown of chloramines or phosphate. In a pool with optimally set flocking and perfect flow, as a rule no algae can form. But if one has stagnant areas, algae can soon grow. There is a distinction between three important groups of algae: green algae are the most common. They mostly float in the pool water or can be found in stagnant areas. Yellow algae appear as scattered powder on the pool floor and are usually chlorine-resistant, while black (blue-green) algae appear as patches on the wall and are usually the toughest to remove, requiring not only an effective algicide but also mechanical treatment with a brush.
If the swimming pool is carefully prepared for winter during the autumn, expensive frost damage and extensive spring cleaning can be avoided. It is worth rinsing the filter, removing dirt at the edges and on the base of the pool and carefully setting the pool parameters such as the pH and chlorine level in the autumn, as well as throughout the season. Only then should one add a suitable agent for the winter and protect the pool walls against excessive pressure with ice pressure pads.
Excessive deposits of limestone or metal, too many chlorates or mould fungi: all of this can significantly compromise pool maintenance. Our problem solvers will help you to keep your swimming pool clean and to duly remove potential interferences. Contact us if you cannot find “your” problem solver on our menu.

In specialist jargon, the term microfibre refers to all synthetic fibres with a fineness of less than a decitex. This technical measurement unit refers to the relationship between the length and thickness of the fibres: one decitex (dtex) means that 10,000 metres of this fibre only weigh one gram. Due to its exceptional fineness, the fibres are very soft to touch, as well as being very resistant to pilling owing to the high fibre density.
Did you know that the first mop was patented in 1837 in Massachusetts? Efficient cleaning would be unthinkable nowadays without this practical aid. Apart from various wiping implements, we also offer pads and pad holders, as well as brushes and squeegees.

Despro – cleaning and disinfecting agents from our own development and production
Thorough and environmentally friendly treatment of the surfaces to be cleaned, as well as of the surrounding materials, is important for a clean swimming pool in the long term. In the process, we are making a contribution to a hygienically clean and healthy environment, improving the quality of life and maintaining the value of the facility. Thanks to our decades of experience, we supply our customers with high-quality products that come primarily from our own development and production.
According to the motto “Hygiene for wellbeing”, since 1974 we have been developing and producing products for cleaning, disinfection and swimming pool water treatment under the brand name DESPRO.
Clever products, individual concepts and neat problem solutions with a personal touch are our quality features.
Here you can find out more about our product range.
Stone slabs and paths that bear the brunt of the weather can soon deteriorate in appearance. The porous surfaces are also favourable for stubborn deposits. In our product range you can find secret weapons for removing such deposits easily and giving floor surfaces, sculptures or stone decorations a pristine appearance again.
A clean swimming pool requires the right products for restoring its pristine appearance after the winter break. Thanks to our longstanding experience and intensive customer dialogues, our product range comprises everything needed to clean all types of pool, including acid base and rust cleaners. With our high-quality products, you can ensure your pool retains its attractive and maintained appearance whilst saving valuable time.
How often the floor needs to be cleaned depends how many staff or visitors go in and out every day, whether floors are subject to particular works and soiling, or whether they are in a reception area. The frequency of floor cleaning can therefore differ widely, from several times a day to weekly. Discover our high-quality products for professional floor cleaning.
Showers and changing rooms in communal facilities are especially challenging when it comes to hygiene. Where many people come together and there is high air humidity, germs spread particularly quickly. Especially in shower facilities, biofilms can form, and fungi are also particularly at home in warm and humid environments. Apart from a hygiene concept, effective cleaners play an important role in inhibiting the risks of pathological germs.
Window cleaning is a chore for most people and keeps being put off. However, clean windows are important for the overall appearance of your swimming pool. Glass panes soiled by rainwater or dust suggest subconsciously that the house owner does not attach much importance to order and cleanliness. Our specially developed formulae for windows and smooth surfaces will restore everything to smear-free brilliance in no time at all. We would especially like to highlight our product DESPRO Kalvit, which combines the properties of a window cleaner with those of a descaler and is therefore ideally suited to calcified and greasy glass and synthetic surfaces in indoor pools.
Hygiene is particularly important in sanitary areas. Limestone deposits and urine scale can be very tough to remove. With our selected cleaning products, it is possible to remove such deposits efficiently. For example, our Calisso is highly concentrated and brings together the power of different acids to get rid of urine scale and limestone.
Welcome to a new way of cleaning! The PLS SprayWash™ system is a unique, quick and efficient system for cleaning and disinfecting and can be used for a wide range of requirements. You only need water, a hose and SprayWash™ tablets!

The basic principle of ecological cleaning agents is to be less of a burden on the environment, primarily on water sources. We are of the conviction that efficient cleaning can go hand in hand with sustainability. Our balanced range of innovative cleaning products will persuade you too and help to take care of the environment. It is scarcely surprising then that our product lines are enjoying increasing popularity.
Scrubbing and suction machines draw water with cleaning agents down to the floor surface, scrub this surface with a brush or roller and then suction all the water up again with the help of the suction bar, which is usually at the back of the machine. The machines are fitted either with a disc brush or a roller brush. The scrubbing and suction machines have two tanks: one for the clean water used for cleaning, the other for the grey water reabsorbed during suction. With the professional and high-performance cleaning machines, even the narrowest of spaces are no problem. A couple of steps, tables, chairs or a lack of space around toilets meant these areas could previously only be efficiently cleaned manually. This has changed with the i-Mop – watch the i-Mop in action.

When jumping into the water, springboards increase the dynamic impulse and raise the height of the jump. In competitions, there are dives from the 1-metre and 3-metre boards. In the past, springboards were made of wood (usually pine) with an anti-slip surface (sisal matt, rubber). Since 1965, springboards have been made of a GRP-reinforced wooden core with an anti-slip surface (white “HSP” boards). Our springboards use the latest technology in order to offer divers the best possible experience.

The pool – a place for playing and training. Malmsten pool toys in brilliant colours will make your pool a real little paradise for children of any age. We offer a wide product range. Please reckon on a delivery period of up to four weeks, due to the scope of our pool toy range.

You can rely on our expertise when it comes to the filtration of swimming pool water.
Good filtration is largely responsible for the quality of the bathing water. Apart from the filter medium itself, various aids have a positive influence on filtration. For example, active carbon allows the elimination of chemical by-products from the water. Depending on the filter type, a different filter medium, flocking agent or active carbon will be best for your system. Let us advise you.
Active carbon is an open-pored, fine-grained carbon with a large inner surface, which is used as an adsorption means including in the swimming pool. Through filtration with active carbon filters, chlorine-nitrogen compounds, halogen organic compounds (THM, AOX) and organic compounds are largely eliminated. There are various possible uses for active carbon:
• Packed bed filter: granulated active carbon (GAC)
• Precoat filter: powdered active carbon (PAC)
• Ozoning devices: formed carbon (cylindrical form)
• Dosing devices: formed carbon (cylindrical form)
The greatest pool enjoyment requires the best water quality and uncompromised cleanliness. Modern filter media such as Nature Works Hi-Tech Filter Media improve the consistency of the water and help to ensure a pleasant bathing experience.
Nature Works is a filter medium made of new glass granules that serves as a substitute for quartz sand in all standard filters available on the market, intended for water filtration both in the household (swimming pool) and in industry. It is the only filter medium for water treatment that offers maximum performance, reusability, saving of energy, water and chemicals, certified purity and absolute installation safety. It is an ecological, recycled and reusable product that reduces the environmental impact of water treatment.
Thanks to its progressive anti-condensing technology, its smooth edges and its polyhedral morphology, it prevents the occurrence of biofilm and chloramines. The filter medium does therefore not require a flocking agent and reduces the loss of pressure to a minimum. The quality is guaranteed by international product, production, water treatment and traceability certifications. Our glass filter medium filters fine particles significantly better than quartz sand and achieves filtration levels up to 1 micrometre (sand 20 micrometres).
The question arises as to why quartz sand should be replaced by glass, if it works.
Quartz sand soon clogs. This fosters the formation of bacteria and also leads to higher usage:
• Chemicals due to bacterial infiltration
• Water due to a lack of rinsing
• Energy because of higher pump pressure
As well as:
• Low filter performance after a certain period
• Limited lifespan
Filter anthracite N (Everzit N) is natural, fractured, pure anthracite. This hard, sharp-edged, shiny black material has a slightly splintery grain shape. For use as a filter material, it is sieved in grain groups. Filter anthracite is used primarily in multiple layer filtration (e.g. filter anthracite N through filter sand). Filter anthracite N is used for the filtration of waters dulled by firm and floating particles in the area of drinking, utility and wastewater, as well as in the treatment of pool water.
Celite 535
Celite filter devices are chemically inert and resistant to almost all acids, they can only be attacked by concentrated and hot brines.
Clarcel DIT
Suitable for the treatment of swimming pool water using precoat filtration according to DIN 19’643 and 19’624. Clarcel DIT/R filter aids are maintained through calcination / activation of purified diatomite. Its colour is white and its silicon dioxide content (SiO2) is around 89%. This product conforms to the specifications of the 8th monograph of the US Food Chemical Codex (2012). Granulometry DIT/R 535: ≤ 350 μm, granulometry DIT/2R 545: ≤ 420 μm. First dose: per m² filter surface approx. 1’100 g running dosage as required.
Filter material for precoat filters. Pearlite is a mineral stone resulting from volcanic activities, a seemingly endlessly usable raw material. The natural occurrence is reproduced in a significantly easier and safer way. It is therefore a regenerative basic product. This harbours a planning security that can be manifested over a very long period. It has huge advantages compared to diatomite in terms of usage and weight ratio, as well as the disposal of used filter devices.
