Wellness for the pool

We already started specialising in water treatment for the swimming pool many decades ago. This longstanding experience and contact with producers worldwide were decisive for the development of the AQUEA line.

AQUEA focuses the whole expertise and integrates the best products from around the world, as well as products from our own development and production.

The right treatment of swimming pool water can be a real challenge. Simply built-up care steps that can be easily identified through colour coding on the label facilitate the treatment. The water in the swimming pool can therefore be kept hygienically pristine with little effort. Details such as an integrated measuring scale for the 1-litre bottles also facilitate the adding of the correct quantity of the treatment agent.

Apart from the striking properties of the AQUEA line, it also boasts optimal value for money.

The pH value is the measurement for the acid or alkali properties of the water on a scale of 0 to 14. The neutral point is a pH value of 7.0. The ideal pH value of swimming pool water is from 7.0 to 7.4. An ideal pH value is the precondition for optimal disinfection. Outside of the ideal pH value range, the disinfectant properties of most products diminishes significantly.

The pH regulation product group comprises:

  • AQUEA pH-Minus
  • AQUEA pH-Plus
  • AQUEA pH-Fix
Produktfamilie pH-Regulierung AQUEA, pH-fix, pH-Minus, pH-Plus, CHEMIA BRUGG AG

The purpose of disinfection is to destroy microorganisms, viruses, bacteria, algae, mould and fungi that are widespread in our natural environment. Swimming pool water is particularly susceptible to the formation of bacteria and algae. Many bacteria trigger infectious diseases. The AQUEA disinfection products ensure that there is no infection risk for bathers.

The disinfection product group comprises:

  • AQUEA Rapidchlor 50
  • AQUEA Speedychlor 66
  • AQUEA Tabbylong 88
  • AQUEA Granulong 88
  • AQUEA Multichlor 360°
  • AQUEA Calhypo 70+
  • AQUEA Oxypronto
  • AQUEA OxyTabs
  • AQUEA Broma

The occurrence of algae in outdoor pools is a very widespread problem. Apart from being an eyesore, they can also be dangerous, as they make surfaces slippery. Green algae are the most common. It usually floats in the water but can also be deposited on pool walls and in corners. The growth of algae usually starts where there are stagnant pools through a lack of water circulation in the affected area. AQUEA No Algin Extra is available against largely chlorine-resistant algae strains such as yellow algae and black algae.

The algae prevention product group comprises:

  • AQUEA NoAlgin
  • AQUEA NoAlgin Extra
  • AQUEA OxyBlue
  • AQUEA Winterclear

Additional care for every pool. This AQUEA product signifies clearer water and targeted solutions to problems. Products from this AQUEA line supplement the basic treatment of the water.

The Comfort Plus product group comprises:

  • AQUEA Floxibion
  • AQUEA Floxipad
  • AQUEA Calcistop

Our cleaning products are especially developed for use in the swimming pool and despite a high cleaning efficiency they are gentle on the material.

Our cleaning product group comprises:

  • AQUEA Lineaclean
  • AQUEA Folioclean
  • AQUEA Cleany Pool
  • AQUEA Filterflush

Specially conceived liquid care products are available for use in automatic dosing systems. Due to their chemical purity and special formulas, these cleaning substances together with the dosing systems ensure optimal water quality. The large containers keep the work within a minimal area. The dosing is directly from the delivered container.

The automatic treatment product group comprises:

  • AQUEA pH-Minus Liquid
  • AQUEA pH-Plus Liquid
  • AQUEA Liquichlorine
  • AQUEA Novachlorine
  • AQUEA Oxyfluid

Experts in water treatment since 1928

Innovative Water Care (Solenis Group) is one of the leading companies in the field of water treatment for public and private swimming pools, as well as whirlpools. With a strong presence in Europe, the corporation produces and sells a wide range of products for the disinfection of swimming pool water (especially on the basis of calcium hypochlorite and isocyanates), for water treatment (anti-algae agents, water purifiers etc.), as well as cleaning agents for the pool and spa.

Water balance especially means a good setting of the pH value. The pH value is neglected far too often in water treatment, whilst being essential for the simple prevention of many unwanted effects: the development of algae, irritations of the eyes and skin, dull water etc. It also reinforces the effect of the disinfectant, the flocking agent and other water treatment products, whose optimal effectiveness depends on a neutral pH value (approaching 7.0).

EXPERT ADVICE: in case of strong fluctuations of the pH value, the alkalinity of the water should be checked with TAC. The water may require a “buffer” with the help of HTH® Alkanal.

Swimming pool water is influenced by its environment and by bathing guests. It is essential for it to be controlled and regularly treated. Disinfection must be ongoing to prevent the development of microorganisms. Calcium hypochlorite is at the same time a strong disinfectant and oxidation agent, with the advantage that no cyanuric acids are generated that can lead to the overstabilisation of the swimming pool water.

Protecting water against the soiling caused by people and the environment is a task that has to be carried out regularly. This mission is perfectly accomplished by stabilised chlorine, as it is at the same time a strong disinfectant and oxidation agent. The stabilisers provided by so-called “stabilised” chlorine protect the chlorine against the destructive effect of the UV radiation of the sun.

Treatments with bromine or active oxygen offer an alternative to standard chlorine products on the market for the treatment of swimming pool water. Studies show that some users prefer products “without chlorine”, which appear more natural and are better suited to child-friendly bathing. The HTH® products “without chlorine” offer bathing comfort for the whole family: odour-free and without the water irritating the eyes or skin.

Even if the swimming pool water is disinfected and has a disinfecting effect, even if it is balanced, it is influenced not only by bathing guests: wind, air pollution, insects, vegetation and ambient temperatures are interference factors for the purity of the water and can lead to dulling or discolouration. HTH® offers a series of products for solving or avoiding problems in connection with water treatment.

The healing power of warm water has been known since antiquity. However, the warm water needs special care. For this reason, HTH® has developed a product series especially for spa water.

Treatment
Products for regular or shock disinfection, tailored to the particular requirements of a spa. Like for all families of the product series HTH® Spa, the packages are customised to the water content of the whirlpool.

Balance
Products that balance the pH value or the carbonate hardness in the water. They make bathing more pleasant and enable better effectiveness of the disinfectants used.

Protection
A product series for preventing or solving problems that every spa owner is confronted with. It especially comprises agents against algae, a water purifier, a foam remover, a cleaning agent and much more.

Faith is good, controlling is better and safer

Even if our senses perceive the pool water to be fine, important parameters such as the pH value and disinfectant content may already be outside of the recommended range. For this reason, regular checking for safety ensures enjoyable bathing.

Optimal climate in and outside of the water

The regulation of the pool water temperature helps to raise individual wellbeing – in accordance with the use of the swimming pool. High-quality inverter heat pumps with a heating and cooling function and titanium heat exchangers extend the bathing season and ensure a pleasant pool water temperature with above-average energy savings. We stock a wide range of heat pumps, heat exchangers and dehumidifiers for operators of indoor pools.

How does a heat pump work?
The air-water heat pump is the most widely used type of heat pump for pools. This type of heat pump for the pool works through the suctioned air warming the contained cooling agent (R32). Through a condenser (supply of electrical energy), the cooling agent is condensed and the temperature increased. The amount of heat contained in the cooling agent is emitted in a condenser to the basin water flowing through it. Then the liquid cooling agent is depressurised so that the cycle can begin again.

What does inverter technology mean?
Our inverter heat pumps are fitted with compressors that work with various or variable speeds. The speed is increased or reduced depending on the energy requirement and the environmental conditions. High-quality inverter heat pumps with a heating and cooling function extend the bathing season and ensure pool water of a pleasant temperature with above-average energy savings. As an option, these smart heat pumps are available with a 3-step or stepless heating regulation, as well as horizontal and vertical versions. There is therefore the right solution for every usage situation, for unlimited bathing enjoyment in private, public or hotel pools.

What is the COP value?
The COP value (Coefficient of Performance) is the performance figure that denotes the effectiveness of a heat pump. This quotient is the result of the heat emitted to the pool water and the required electrical power. To put it simply: it measures how many units of heat a heat pump can generate from a unit of power and can emit into the heating cycle.

For greater effectiveness when heating a pool, a larger model of the heat pump is recommended for a pool facility. A heat pump with a higher performance can usually be operated at a lower speed. The saves more energy through less power, with an audibly lower noise level during operation.

Can the heat pump be automatically controlled?
Our product range also includes Modbus-enabled and WLAN-enabled models, allowing the heat pump to be automatically controlled and the pool automatically heated.

Plastic is not just plastic

In the production of Praher Plastics® and IBG® PVC products, the manufacturer rigorously avoids environmentally harmful additives or those that may damage health. The environmentally friendly manufacturing is subject to particularly strict criteria. The possibility to break down all products into the smallest components is important to us. This ensures a materially optimised disposal and reuse, as well as the sustainable conservation and use of all resources. Watch this product video about this.

A comprehensive replacement part guarantee (for Praher® products up to 10 years) and an above-average lifespan through high-quality materials allow usability for many years.

Furthermore, the FlexFit® series is conceived so that through an adhesive-free binding of the PVC FlexFit fittings and hoses the burden on the environment and people is reduced. You can find instructions for this system in this video:

Keep full control over all processes in the pool

Let our automation options take over laborious maintenance jobs for you. This leaves you with more time for what the swimming pool was made for, namely enjoyment and relaxation in pleasantly cool water.

Through AQUEA Dosilogic, all chemically relevant water parameters are kept on track. pH regulation, disinfection and even the adding of flocking agents are monitored by the intelligent system and fully automatically dosed as required.

The AQUASTAR® pool controls P6 keeps parameters such as temperature or the pool water level constant on the same level and controls filter processes. No matter whether only certain parts are automated or you are looking for full automation, we have a suitable solution to every problem.

The AQUEA Dosilogic brings together the latest technology, full flexibility and a high-quality selection of components for longevity – made in Switzerland. The experience gained from over 40 years of manufacturing measuring, regulation and dosing technology was the basis for the newly developed AQUEA Dosilogic. Intuitive operation, simple handling, compact measurements and up to 3 dosage pumps make the AQUEA Dosilogic optimally equipped for every use.

Our measurement and regulation technology also boasts the following special functions:

  • SEASON START function: the device switches all dosage time limiters and micro dosages off until the target values for pH and Redox have been reached the first time, then the device goes back to normal operation.
  • ABSENT function: the device reduces the use of chemicals when the absence mode is switched on. After returning, switch the mode off and the device will continue to run normally.
  • CHLORINE SHOCK function: the device carries out an automatic chlorine shock, then the device returns to normal operation.
  • AQUEA Dosilogic: technology from public facilities payable for private pools.

Technical specifications

  • Possible measurements: pH / Redox / free chlorine (optional)
  • Dosage: pH / Chlorine / H2O2 / Algicides / Flocking agent
  • Easiest operation via colour touchscreen
  • Microdosage setting
  • Maximum dosage time limit setting

In salt electrolysis, the pool water is enriched with sodium chloride (NaCl, also known as cooking salt). If two electrodes are immersed in this sodium chloride solution and connected to DC voltage, the sodium chloride is split according to the charge. This process is called electrolysis (Greek: separate using electricity). The positively charge sodium ions Na+ (cations) wander to the negative electrode (cathode) and the negatively charged chloride ions CI- (anions) wander to the positive electrode (anode).

The actual disinfectant – free or active chlorine – is formed from these resulting electrolysis products. This destroys all microorganisms and is a very powerful disinfectant. In our product range, we also stock salt electrolyses in the LOW salt range – which corresponds to a salt content in the pool water of 0.1 – 0.2 mg/l.

Safety when handling chemicals is primordial. Are you looking for a cost-effective solution for getting a handle on raised chlorate values? Our DDS systems for dosing calcium hypochlorite are low maintenance and low cost to procure and can therefore replace a Javel dosage. We offer the suitable measuring and regulation technology in the form of AQUEA Dosilogic, also with a free chloring measurement.

MAVOX UV/OZON technology – the booster for even better water quality

  • Reduces chlorine odour and chlorine reaction products
  • Minimises the use of chemicals
  • Reduces the work required for pool and pool water maintenance

The function principle

MAVOX® is an important system component in the water hygiene of a pool. This is installed in a linear manner in the water cycle after mechanical filtration and before the pH regulation and before further agents for depot disinfection. Through a Venturi system, which can be adjusted with a regulatory valve, air is drawn by means of underpressure through the UV radiation chambers working in two frequencies. This converts the proportional oxygen of the air into ozone (O3) and gets back into the UV radiation chamber through the water cycle. There it is used for the oxidation of impurities and also for the additional disinfection of the pool water.

Technical features

  • The UV module generates bispectral, highly efficient UV radiation in two wavelengths and at the same time generates fresh ozone for the effective disinfection of pathogens and oxidation of unwanted water elements.
  • Through the ozone jet module, the water enriched with ozone is guided back into the filter cycle via a bypass and before the actual UV treatment.
  • Replacement of the emitters is recommended after approx. 8000 operating hours (i.e. for outdoor pools after around 4 seasons, for indoor pools after approx. 1.5 years).

The controls series iQntrol by Peraqua® offers full control over every pool facility. Smart pool controls have now become the new standard. Thanks to intelligent technologies, the swimming pool gains convenience noticeably. With the iQnnect system, pool components such as the filter pump, heat pump, measurement and regulation technology, lighting etc. can be intelligently networked and controlled through an app. The aim of the unique solution is a completely automatic, safe and sustainable pool system with 100% operating safety. In the iQnnect guide, you can find comprehensive information such as connection plans, product details and much more.

Filter & pump technology is the centrepiece of every pool.

This is why it is so important to carefully select the filter pumps and filters.

It raises the question of how to select a filter. The calculation of the filter size depends on the filter volume flow (Q). This is calculated based on the pool volume (V) – including the equalisation container for pools with overflow drains – and the circulation time (t). The circulation time (time for a complete water exchange) depends on the location and use of the swimming pool and for outdoor pools is approx. 4 hours. The size of the filter is determined by calculating the nominal volume flow through the filtration speed of 30 m/h (for private pools). Here you can find a calculation example.

The pool filter is the key component for keeping the pool water clean and hygienic. Our choice of filters leaves practically nothing to be desired. From a high layer filter to compact filter systems, you can find the suitable system for every situation. We would particularly like to highlight our filter series BREGENZ II. Through the special construction, inspection and maintenance of the filter are significantly facilitated. The filter body is made of isophthalic resin, resilient glass fibres and UV-resistant Gelcoat. The geometry of the filter body has been constructed to be optimally suited to high pressure. The careful choice of raw materials and coherent application solutions guarantee the highest mechanical resilience against the constant work pressures such as pressure fluctuations, closing/opening of the valve, starting/stopping the pump etc.

For our high-quality polyester filters, we recommend the glass filter medium NatureWorks, which has a purity of 99.999% and boasts fewer backflush procedures thanks to the anti-condensing technology.

The greatest pool enjoyment requires the best water quality and cleanliness without compromises. Modern filter media such as NatureWorks Hi-Tech Filter Media improve the consistency of the water and contribute to an undiminished bathing experience.

NatureWorks is a filter medium made of new glass granulate, which serves as a replacement for the quartz sand in all standard filters available on the market, used for water filtration both in households (swimming pool) and in industry. It is the only filter medium for water treatment that offers maximum performance, reusability, energy/water/chemical savings, certified purity and absolute safety in installation, whilst being an ecological, recycled and reusable product that reduces the environmental impact of water treatment.

Thanks to its progressive anti-condensing technology, its smooth edges and its polyhedric morphology, it prevents the occurrence of biofilm and chloramines. The filter medium therefore does not require a flocking agent and reduces pressure loss to a minimum. The quality is guaranteed by international product, production, water treatment and traceability certifications. Our glass filter medium filters fine particles significantly better than quartz sand and achieves filtration sharpness up to 1 micrometre (sand 20 micrometres).

The question arises as to why quartz sand should be replaced by glass, if it works.

Quartz sand soon clots. This promotes the formation of bacteria and also leads to higher consumption:

  • Chemicals due to the bacterial load
  • Water due to lack of backflush
  • Energy due to higher pressure of the pump

as well as:

  • Low filter performance after a certain period
  • Limited lifespan

The regular backflush of the filter is an essential maintenance step. It is recommended to carry out the backflush 1x per week for 3 to 5 minutes. Only this way can one ensure that filtered dirt is removed from the system. To make sure this step is not forgotten, this procedure is taken over by our automatic backflush valves of the AQUASTAR® series.

Even older systems can be easily refitted with fully automated backflush valves, reducing maintenance requirements. You can see in this video how easy and quick the conversion from a manual to a fully automated backflush can be.

Nothing works without a swimming pool pump

The function of the filter pump can be compared to the heart in the human body. It drives the filter process and regulates the speed of the filter process.

The pool water reaches the pump through the skimmer or the overflow container. Suctioned through the integrated prefilter and directed into the filter at a defined speed I(30 m/h is recommended), the water is filtered. What is decisive is a suitable performance in relation to the pool size, as well as compactness, energy efficiency and noise during operation.

Our filter pump DAVB – E.Pro is impressive in all respects. The DAB – E.Pro is a very quiet and energy-efficient swimming pool pump with an integrated sieve basket. It combines highly modern technical hydraulic parts, frequency converter technology, a highly efficient, water-cooled motor and a flow meter. With these properties, the rotational speed can be adjusted and the filtering and backflush is particularly quiet with the water-cooled motor.
